2012 Annual Appearl Banner PNG

Thank you so much for your support of US Sailing!

Our goal at US Sailing is to support you, a 21st Century sailor. We are continually working to provide you relevant knowledge and services today, while helping to shape the sport for tomorrow.

Here are a few examples of how we are fulfilling our mission together as a sailing community:

  • Disabled Sailing: Congratulations to U.S. Paralympic Sailing Team members Jen French and JP Creignou for winning the silver medal in the SKUD-18 (Two-person Keelboat)! To help encourage disabled sailors (and possible next generation Paralympians), we are developing resources and a disabled sailing manual loaded with suggestions and ideas for creating adaptive sailing programs. These tools will serve as a how to guide for organizations to diversify their programming and provide new opportunities with their existing equipment.

  • REACH Program – Sailing and STEM Education:  The REACH Program utilizes sailing as an educational platform, encouraging youth of all backgrounds to embrace education, establish a love of learning and learn important skills in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). REACH provides programming and partnerships to organizations that utilize sailing as an educational tool and connects youth to the sport of sailing. The opportunity for disadvantaged children to learn to sail while gaining critical skills will help them overcome hardships and live their dreams.
  • Safety: Our call to action in the Farallones Race tragedy to assemble a review panel with US Coast Guard support is an example of our dedication to improving safety at sea for all sailors. The complete report, including findings and recommendations that have a broad impact on sailor preparation, race management, and organizational collaboration can be found on our web site at http://offshore.ussailing.org/SAS/General_Information/Current_Safety_Studies.htm.
  • Race Management:  Our goal is to increase the availability and quality of race management locally and nationally. In addition to improving our traditional programs, we are developing online training and testing modules to increase accessibility and breadth of our training.  We grant Race Officialships that provide funding to young volunteers who want to become certified Race Officials.  We are also developing tools and resources, including Race Committee 101, that will help local clubs and organizations instill within their volunteer corps the basics of race management and the pride of running great regattas.
We are constantly working to promote participation in, and visibility of, the sport we love. Our annual appeal is an important contributor to our work and I ask that you give as generous a donation as you can today. Every contribution is meaningful to us and deeply appreciated. Thank you!

Wishing you good sailing and fair winds,
